Artist Statement: "The Dream of Twenty-Four Years" is the first series I created. In this series, there are no human figures, nor is it like a typical landscape painting. What I wanted to depict is a world born from my imagination. In this world, there are serene blue skies and white clouds, and secret realms hidden deep within forests. The main elements of this world are spheres—large and small, in various colors and textures. These spheres are smooth and without edges, symbolizing the kind of completeness we long for in life. In front of the spheres sits an empty chair. A chair is typically meant for sitting, but here, it remains unoccupied. It is waiting—waiting for a sense of completeness, waiting for a person or an event to fulfill it. This idea of “completeness” isn’t like a clock, with fixed and precise time—it’s more like a continuous state. The process of waiting for completeness is itself a form of completeness. Just as we often long for happiness, without realizing that happiness might already exist in the present moment. In some pieces from this series, there is no chair—only a few spheres placed on the ground or on shelves with a glass-like texture. What I aim to create in these works is a sense of stillness and quiet atmosphere. In our current lives, we’ve grown used to rushing—rushing through life, rushing to grow up. Stopping seems almost impossible, because to pause might mean being surpassed by others. Tension, anxiety, and worry fill our days, leaving us unable to enjoy the present. But in fact, we don’t always need to keep moving forward. If we keep going without pause, we miss the scenery around us and forget to reflect. Sometimes, stopping for a moment can offer a brief and needed sense of relief. "The Dream of Twenty-Four Years – Three Worlds" expands the idea of completeness into three dimensions: within the mirror, the lake, and the viewer’s eyes. No matter where one looks, beauty can always be found. "The Dream of Twenty-Four Years – Shadows Among the Trees" builds upon the concept of completeness by adding a sense of leisure. On a warm afternoon, sunlight filters through the trees and gently falls upon the back of a comfortable chair. In that moment, everything in the world seems to become light and free.
